Willie Lee Hart and Kynechia Denise Burns are proud to announce the birth of their son, Willie Lee Hart Jr., on October 25, 2012 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Willie weighed three pounds, 15 ounces and measured 17 and 3/4 inches long. Maternal grandparents are Diane Burns, Patrick Stevenson, Jeanette Hart and Willie Hoggan. Paternal grandparents are Mary Stuckey, William Stuckey Sr., Rosie Lee Hart, Maru Hoggan. Also welcoming the new arrival are great grandparents, Savie Butler and Wayne McDaniels Sr.

Beginning with the 2012-13 school year, a Library Club has been formed at Yazoo County Junior High School. Students are chosen from each of the Reading Classes to be responsible for straightening shelves, shelving books, assisting Librarian Wendy Cartwright with book processing, changing wall decorations and any other duties that come up throughout the year. Students will rotate each nine weeks. Students were recognized with a “treat” for the first nine weeks. Those students are eighth graders Devante Bradfield, Noah Cleveland, Emily Hawk, JaMarya Haymer, Malik Hicks, Melinda Holmes, Arias Jones, Rebecca Lunceford, Cody Parker, Tamia Reynolds, Shelyshia Scott, D’Ariel Shannon, Danesha Slater and Jamarcus Smith; and seventh graders Brenna Beliew, Andrill Dawson, Megan Fielder, Jesse Henderson, Jarrett Potter, Joseph Sanders and Clair Tripp. These students take their job seriously and take responsibility independently as well as reminding their classmates to be responsible library users as well.
Miss Pearl Mack and Deemmeris BurnsOllie Mack and the late Odess Mack are proud to announce the union of their daughter, Pearl Regene Mack, to Deemmeris Debrae Burns, the son of Thelma Brown and Evester Burns. She is an administrator with Quality Adult Day Care, and he is a demolition technician with Bell Construction. The bride-elect is a graduate of Yazoo City High School and Jackson State University, where she obtained a B.S. degree in Social Work. The prospective groom attended Yazoo County High School. Miss Mack is the granddaughter of the late Oscar and Annie Thomas. Mr. Burns is the grandson of Rev. Andrew Brown. The couple will be united in holy matrimony on November 24, 2012 at 3 p.m. at old King Solomon M.B. Church with Rev. Benjamin Hall Jr. officiating the double-ring ceremony. Family and friends are invited to share their special day.
Miss Kathleen Culpepper and Jeremy MowryRon and Margaret Culpepper of Yazoo City are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Bonnie Kathleen Culpepper, to Jeremy Len Mowry, son of Marlin and Peggy Mowry of West Point. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Nadine Culpepper and the late William Culpepper of Sallis and Walter Richardson Sr. and the late Bonnie Sue Richardson of Bentonia. Miss Culpepper is a 2004 graduate of Benton Academy. In 2008, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University with a major in Biological Engineering (Summa Cum Laude). And, in 2010, she earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a major in Biomedical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude). She is currently finishing her Ph.D. program in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Virgil and Laura Mowry of Brooksville and the late Jim and Letha Chain of Columbus. Mr. Mowry is a 2000 graduate of the Mississippi School for Math and Science. In 2005, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University with a major in Mechanical Engineering (Magna Cum Laude). And, in 2007, he earned a Master of Science degree from Mississippi State University also in Mechanical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude). He is a licensed professional engineer currently working as a Melting Engineer for the American Cast Iron Pipe Company in Birmingham, Ala. The couple will be married February 9, 2013, at noon in the Chapel of Memories on the Mississippi State University campus with reception to follow. The ceremony will be officiated by Pastor Kenny Gardner of the Columbus Christian Center. All friends and family of the couple are invited to share in the celebration.
Justin Gower and Tekiela Nelson of Yazoo City are proud to announce the birth of their child, Justice Mariah Gower, on October 15, 2012 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Justice weighed six pounds, nine ounces and measured 20 and a half inches long. Maternal grandparents are Linda Nelson and Floyd Sheppard. Paternal grandparent is Diana Gower. Also welcoming the new arrival are Tykeriya and Talija Nelson.
