Burdine and Sanders make President’s List

The President's List for the 2012 fall semester at Northwest Mississippi Community College has been released by college officials. Area students receiving this honor are:
Sarah Burdine of Bentonia
Lauren Sanders of Bentonia
Those students completing 12 or more semester hours with a grade point average of 3.75 or better in a four-point system are on the President's List. The Dean's List includes students completing a minimum of 12 semester hours with a 3.50 to 3.74 average. Named to the Vocational Honors List are students who have shown outstanding progress in their chosen field.

 

Spreading Christmas Cheer

The Ladies of The Divine Divas Social Club visited with and delivered personal care items to residents of Oasis Health and Rehab during the Christmas Holidays as part of their community service project. Miss Carey to wed Burton

Miss Candace Carey and Roger Burton IIIMiss Candace Carey and Roger Burton IIIMr. and Mrs. Steve Pigg of Bentonia and Kim and the late James Carey of Etowah, Ark. announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Miss Candace Kaye Carey, to Roger Franklin Burton III, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Roger Franklin Burton Jr. of Bentonia.
Miss Carey is the granddaughter of the late Mr. Leo Tucker, Mrs. Catherine Tucker and Mrs. Bernice Pigg of Bentonia and the late Mr. James Carey and the late Mrs. Rhudene Carey Bennett of Etowah, Ark.
She is a graduate of Manchester Academy. She also earned a degree in Elementary Education with Special Education from Delta State University.
She is a second grade teacher at East Flora Elementary School in Flora.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roger Franklin Burton of Bentonia and the late Mr. Robert Appleton and Mrs. Mary Sue Appleton of Yazoo City.
He is a graduate of Tri County Academy. He also earned a Business degree in Accounting from Delta State University.
He is self-employed.
The couple will be married on December 22 in a private ceremony in Key West, Fla.
A reception will be held on December 29 at 7 p.m. at the Lodge in Bentonia.
Family and friends are invited to the reception.

 

Lintonia Garden Club holds luncheon

The Lintonia Garden Club celebrated the Christmas season on Dec. 11 in the home of Marietta Wilkinson. Members enjoyed a holiday luncheon followed by a gift exchange.
