Bennett debuts

Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Bennett of Yazoo City are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Bennett, on Feb. 12, 2013 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson .
Sarah Elizabeth weighed eight pounds, one ounce.
Maternal grandparents are Harold and Lori Sprague.  
Paternal grandparents are Nathan Bennett and Virginia Smith.

 

Noah Marks Hearst debuts

HearstHearstMr. and Mrs. Dallas Hearst are proud to announce the birth of their son, Noah Marks Hearst, on Feb. 5, 2013 at the Women’s Hospital in Flowood.
Noah weighed seven pounds, 14 ounces, and measured 21 inches long.          
Maternal grandmother is Donna Stevens May of Yazoo City.  
Paternal grandparents are Grady and Stephanie Hearst,  Rhonda Gary, all of Yazoo City.
Also welcoming the new arrival are his great grandmothers, Mrs. Stephen Kirk Mauk, Mrs. Patrick Hearst, Mrs. Teddy Marks May, and his aunt, Phoenix Madison Sullivan.

Beliech visits Benton Garden Club

The Benton Garden Club held its monthly meeting on Feb. 2 at the Benton Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Hostesses were Sharon Beidleman and Michie McGraw with guest speaker Donna Beliech with the Mississippi State University Extension Service. Yazoo Chapter NSDAR celebrates 60 years

The Yazoo Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently celebrated its 60th Anniversary Tea. On Jan. 27, Yazoo Chapter members of the Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated its 60th anniversary with a tea in Martin Hall at the Trinity Episcopal Church.  
The guests were welcomed by Yazoo Chapter Regent JoAnne Collins and Yazoo Chapter Vice-Regent Priscilla Harper.  
The tea table with the 60th anniversary cake was hosted by Montine Bond, Delaine Stoner, Marsha Williams, Cynthia McGraw, Sarastelle Sigrest and Ava Hale.
The punch and food table was hosted by Sue Patterson, Beth Nicolas, JoDale Merrill, Wendy Cartwright, and Gloria Adcock. Vay McGraw was seated at the Guest Register.  
Posters displayed include the first year of Yazoo Chapter in 1953 with Mrs. H.Y. West, the first Yazoo Chapter Regent and newspaper articles from 1973, 1976, 1978, 1996 and 2003.
During the reception Sam Olden was recognized as the recipient of the NSDAR Medal of Honor given by Yazoo Chapter for his service to the community.  
DAR members from different chapters include Chakchiuma, Chief Red Jacket, Fort Rosalie, Iklana, James Gilliam and Magnolia and attended the reception along with  friends of the Yazoo Chapter DAR members.
Two HODARs (Husbands of a DAR) Bob Harper and Clifton (Bo) Collins helped set up the reception and welcomed people outside Martin Hall, showing them where to go.
JoAnne Collins presented Janet Looney Whittington an American flag to commemorate her 2010-2013 term as MSSDAR State Regent from the Yazoo Chapter members.  
A highlight of the reception was the showing of the DVD when Kaleb Eulls was presented with the NSDAR Eugenia Washington Medal of Heroism on the Mississippi State football field during a pre-game by Priscilla Harper Vice-Regent.
Janet Looney Whittington MSSDAR State Regent presented the American flag and JoAnne Collins Regent  presented the flag certificate during that ceremony.   
It was an honor to have the presentation of this medal with the DAR insignia and name before 60,000 people on the MSU Jumbo-tron as well.   
Yazoo Chapter was honored by all who attended its 60th celebration of commitment to service to the Yazoo community  through education, historic preservation and patriotism.
