Miss Jordon Zila and Johnathan YatesMr. and Mrs. James Zila of Magee are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Jordon Elizabeth Zila, to Johnathan Mark Yates, son of Mr. and Mrs Mark Yates of Magee.   
The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rusche of Benton and Mr. Larry Warrington and the late Mrs. Judy Warrington of Bentonia.  
The groom is the grandson of Mrs. Mary McKenzie East of Star  and the late Mr. and Mrs. Winford Yates of Magee.
Jordon is a 2009 honors graduate of Magee High School.  She is a 2012 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.  
Johnathan is a 2009 graduate of Magee High School and a 2012 graduate of Jones Community College with an Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology. He is currently employed with Taylor Construction in Laurel as a directional driller.
The couple will exchange vows at First Baptist Church of Magee on March 9, 2013 at 5 p.m.  
Friends and family are invited to attend the ceremony and the reception that will follow at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Dunn at 107 Zip Road in Magee.  

TrimmWilliam Tre'von Trimm, son of  Raphonette Trimm and Maurio Cooper, celebrated his 12th birthday on Monday, February 25.
He enjoyed his weekend with a house party surrounded by friends and family.
Helping to celebrate his day was Morgan Trimm and his brother Brayden Trimm.
He is the grandson of Joyce Cooper, James Harvey and Sheila Trimm
He is the great grandson of Sharon Reed, Margaret and the late Luther Trimm.
He is also the great great grandson of Nancy Davis.

CHEER, first established in  Yazoo City, has distributed millions of books across the world and is now poised to build mini family libraries in 200 Yazoo City High School students’ homes.
The first 1000 books will be distributed to students on March 6 from 2-2:30 p.m. at the High School Library. The second 1,000 books will be distributed  to parents in April.
Students and parents will be able to enjoys $250,000 worth of literature.
For the convenience of  carrying the books, students and parents will receive a burlap tote bag donated by American Eagle.
This Parent Involvement Activity is made possible, in part,  by an $1 million 21st  Century grant from the Mississippi  Department of Education.

Louise Smith is celebrating her 88th birthday this week.  She is wife to Samuel Smith and mother of 11 children with four times as many grand and great-grandchildren.    
When Mrs. Smith’s youngest child was enrolled in kindergarten, she enrolled in beauty school and later received her license to become a hairstylist.  She and her good friend Dorothy Casey co-owned a beauty salon in downtown Yazoo City for about 30 years.  When customers stopped by to get their hair done, they not only received a great hair styling but also many words of wisdom with a little gospel.
Mrs. Smith was once a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church, where she and several other women formed a gospel group known as the Gospel Carolettes. The Gospel Carolettes not only sang in Church and at various Christian events spreading the news of the gospel but also sang on the radio station each Sunday morning.  
Mrs. Smith left Chapel Hill Baptist Church to become a member of New Zion Baptist Church where her son, Rev. Willie E. Smith, is the pastor.  There she not only serves on the Mother Board and the Mission Board but is a great spiritual inspiration to many members and visitors who often seek prayer, Christian advice and fellowship.
She has taught Sunday School and sang in the choir at New Zion.  
She has been a mother or grandmother figure for many in the community; always welcoming others into her home, whether just for the company, for dinner, or anything needy.
Mrs. Smith has tried to be a positive Christian role model, not only for her children and grandchildren but to everyone she meets.
