The Yazoo County Extension Service office will host Annie’s Project, an 18-hour course for women farmers and ranchers, beginning on Feb.16.  
Annie’s Project is an educational program dedicated to strengthen the roles of women in the modern farm enterprise. It is based on the experiences of Annie, a young wife who made it her goal to work with her husband to make their farm successful.
The series is designed for farm women with a passion for business and involvement and a desire to increase knowledge and skills. Participants in the five weekly sessions will learn about estate planning, business plans, financial records, marketing, federal resources, and other topics.  Each session will include a meal and time for networking with others with similar interests.  
Meetings will take place at the Yazoo County Extension Service office located at 212 East Broadway Street, Yazoo City, on the 3rd Floor of the County Office Building.
An enrollment fee of $25 includes registration for the Mississippi Women for Agriculture Annual Conference in Raymond on February 28.

The 34th Annual Run Thru History 10K Run, 5K Walk and 1-Mile Fun Run, presented by the Vicksburg YMCA, will be held on March 2 in the Vicksburg National Military Park.
Race begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at the host hotel, The Battlefield Inn.

Miss Katherine Shipp and Jayson PotterMr. and Mrs. Louis Shipp announce the approaching marriage of their daughter, Katherine Cecelia (Katie) Shipp, to Jayson Wayne Potter, son of Jay Potter of Ridgeland and Sherry Potter of Brookhaven.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James T. Shipp of Benton and the late Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Fisher of Yazoo City.
Katie is a graduate of Benton Academy. She is also a graduate of Hinds Community College with an AA degree in Medical Radiologic Technology. She is presently employed with Central Mississippi Medical Center, where she performs mammography at the Sorella Breast Health Center.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of the late Jay and Frances Potter of Brookhaven and the late Lillian Barlow, also of Brookhaven.
Jayson is a graduate of Patillion-LaVista High School in Omaha, Neb. He studied radiology at the United States Army Academy of Health Sciences in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He is a registered Radiology Technologist at Central Mississippi Medical Center in the CT Department.
The couple will exchange vows in a 5:30 p.m. outdoor ceremony Saturday, March 16, 2013, with the Rev. Jon Martin performing the double ring ceremony. The wedding and the reception will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James T. Shipp Jr., uncle and aunt of the bride.
All relatives and friends are invited to attend the wedding and the reception.

The Boy Scouts of America Troop #75 will hold its annual fundraiser with its Pancake Supper on Feb. 12 from 5-7 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, across the street from Ricks Memorial Library. Plates are $5. Tickets are available, and walk-ins are welcome. For more information, call 746-1000.
