Amongst a tough playing environment and verbal abuse from  some Neshoba Central fans, the Yazoo City Indians defeated the No. 3 ranked Rockets 8-3 Tuesday in prep baseball action.
With the win, the Indians move into a first place tie with Neshoba Central.
The Indians jumped on the board first in the second inning by scoring two runs to make it 2-0. The Rockets tied the game in the third to make it 2-2. The Indians regained the lead in the fourth scoring a run to make it 3-2.

The Yazoo City Indian tennis team picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday with a 3-2 victory over the Callaway Chargers. Leading the way for YHS was the girls doubles teams of Aliesha Hudson and Jonquil Dent and Tyasia Keith and Angela Hudson. Aliesha Hudson and Dent defeated Ciarra Williams and Jennifer Smith in No. 1 girls doubles by a score of 6-0, 6-1 while Keith and Angela Hudson posted at 6-0, 6-0 win over Lonicia Lacey and Chakaeus Mitchell in No. 2 girls doubles.

The Yazoo County Lady Panther softball team fell to the Cleveland Wildcats 3-2 in region play Tuesday night.
With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 1-1 in division play, and they will host Amanda Elzy today.

The Benton Raiders continued their winning ways Tuesday night against the Humphreys Academy Rebels winning 6-2. The Raiders travel to Humphreys Thursday night to take on the Rebels in the series finale. Benton closes out the regular season against Tri-County.
The Raiders scored first on a Rebel error giving them an early 1-0 lead. Jacob Davis hit a RBI sacrifice to make it 2-0.
