LOUISVILLE- The Manchester Mavericks moved one step closer in securing a playoff spot beating the Winston Patriots 1-0 Tuesday night.
Will Stonestreet went the distance in the win giving up three hits on the outing.
Peyton Saxton scored the only run on the night for the Mavericks on a RBI single.
Maverick skipper A.J. Downs was proud of Stonestreet.

The Yazoo City Indians fell to the Starkville Yellowjackets in Region 3-5A action 10-0.
Sam Campbell got the only two hits for the Indians in the game. Gabriel Campbell took the loss for the Indians from the mound.
The Jackets scored a run in the first and the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. Starkville tacked on another four runs in the third to make it 6-0. The Jackets added two in the fourth to make it 8-0, and they added two in the seventh to make the final 10-0.

Campbell picked for All-Star game

Coach Gerald Peyton of the Yazoo City Indians has been selected to coach in the D.M Howie Mississippi High School All-Star game on June 1. The game is sponsored by the Crossroads Diamond Club, Inc.
Peyton will be joined by North Pontotoc head coach Chad Anthony to lead the North 4A-5A-6A squad.
Yazoo City Indians catcher Sam Campbell has been selected to participate in the game as well.
The 4A-5A-6A game will be held at Smith Wills Stadium at 5:30 following the 1A-2A-3A game at 1:30. Coach Peyton will be the second coach to represent Yazoo City in the game following in the footsteps of Wardell Leach.

On a bright and beautiful afternoon for baseball, the Yazoo City Indians proved to the baseball world on Friday that Tuesday’s 8-3 victory over top ranked Neshoba Central wasn’t a fluke.
The Indians used seventh inning theatrics to come from behind to beat the Rockets 5-4 on a Sam Campbell walk-off double.
Campbell was excited about the big win after the contest. Campbell had a tremendous performance at the plate, going three for four hitting two doubles and a solo home run.
“First of all, I want to give all the glory to God,” Campbell said. “Second of all we wanted to prove that last Tuesday wasn’t a fluke. We just have a few more wins to go, and then we will become district champions.”
