Two top ranked teams squared off on the baseball diamond in Benton Tuesday night featuring Benton and Winona.
However, it was the homestanding Benton Raiders coming out on top of the Winona Christian Stars 5-0.
After a scoreless inning of play William Jones hit a RBI single to give the Raiders an early 1-0 advantage.
The Raiders plated three runs in the fourth when Austin White hit a two-run base clearing double to make it 3-0.
Dalton Burton finished the scoring in the inning with a RBI single to make it 4-0.

After a two week hiatus, the Yazoo County Panther baseball team has split a pair of games this past week. The Panthers beat Amanda Elzy 19-3, and fell to Cleveland 19-6.
The Panthers will be back in action Wednesday on the road at Germantown.

Lady Panthers on a two game win streak

The Yazoo County Lady Panther fast pitch softball team are riding a two game win streak after beating Riverside 6-4 and shutting out Greenwood 15-0. The Lady Panthers return to the diamond at home on Tuesday against Cleveland, and they will be on the road Wednesday against Germantown.

Greenwood tops Yazoo City 5-2 in tennis Wednesday

The Yazoo City Indian tennis team is still searching for their first win of the season after falling to the visiting Greenwood Bulldogs 5-2 Wednesday. The loss marked the second of the year to the Bulldogs and dropped the Indians to 0-6 on the season.
Anchoring the YHS netters all season have been the two girls doubles teams of Aliesha Hudson and Jonquil Dent at No. 1 girls doubles and Tyasia Keith and Angela Hudson at No. 2 girls doubles.
Both pairs were victorious over Greenwood with Aliesha Hudson and Dent winning 6-0, 6-0 over Keneshia Sanders and Patrece Otereo while Keith and Angela Hudson pulled out a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Summer Griffis and Dezundria Williams.
