Wednesday morning Marcus Adams signed his letter of intent with Mississippi Delta Community College to play football next fall. Joining Adams is Yazoo County principal Tim Taylor, his mother Angel Adams and head coach Bernard Euell.

The Raiders of Benton Academy shut down Mt. Salus in the fourth quarter, giving up just four points, as they came back to win 55-49 Tuesday night.
Mt. Salus came out of the gates on fire, exploding for 25 points while holding Benton to just 11. However, the Raiders responded with a 20-point performance of their own in the second quarter that cut Mt. Salus’ lead down to just one point at halftime.
Both squads kept each other within striking distance in the third quarter with Mt. Salus outscoring Benton 12-10, setting up the dominant fourth quarter performance by Benton. In that final quarter of play the Raiders totaled 13 points to make the final score 55-49.
Chase Ward led the Raiders in scoring with 12 points.

Yazoo City still has a night full of honoring its seniors, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to look ahead at the post season. Next week marks the beginning of district tournaments across the Magnolia State and the Indians (18-9, 5-1) and Lady Indians (1-26, 0-6) will be headed to Neshoba Central to determine the Region 5A-3 champion.

GREENWOOD – It was a slow start for the Lady Panthers of Yazoo County Tuesday night when Greenwood led 11-4 after eight minutes of action. However, Yazoo County found its offensive groove in the second half with 28 points, including 17 in the fourth quarter.
However, the fourth quarter explosion wasn’t enough to overtake Greenwood (16-4) who won 42-40 over the Lady Panthers (11-16).
