The Mitchell ReportI don’t get to say this often, but this week is going to be a boring one - from a Yazoo sports perspective.
For starters, it’s spring break so there aren’t but a couple of games played all week. Throw in the rain that visited Yazoo over the weekend and those few games get cancelled. That leaves us with not much to talk about.
But there is one little sporting event taking place this week. You may have heard of it.
March Madness. It’s easily one of my favorite times of the year, but also the most frustrating (thanks Butler, VCU, Notre Dame and Kansas for messing up my bracket last year). I love filling out as many brackets as possible, looking at the different scenarios, imagining which games will be the upsets and the ones that will be blowouts.
It’s not an easy task and does have some stress attached to it (like trying to decide between No. 8 Kansas State and No.9 Southern Miss this year). If you’re like me, you’re probably in some type of office pool or another type of pool with friends and family.
So, I’m willing to share my infinite wisdom (don’t laugh too hard) with my loyal readers about how to fill out a bracket. I’m not going to tell you who to pick in what game, but rather give some simple guidelines to follow when making your selections.
For starters, please don’t ever pick No. 1 seed to lose to a No. 16 seed. That’s something that has never happened and probably won’t ever happen. The worst beating the best is highly unlikely.
