Manchester and Kirk Academy played three games, totaling 21 innings and 29 hits. But none of that mattered. In the end, it came down to just one last inning of play.
With the score tied at 3-3 headed into the seventh and final inning of the best-of-three series, both the Mavs and Kirk had just three outs left in their season.
Kirk Academy, who had to fight through the final week of play for a playoff spot, set the bar high for the Mavericks to match with four runs in the top of the seventh. Apparently, the bar was set too high for the Mavericks as they managed just two runs in the bottom half of the inning to have their season come to a surprising end.

In the 2012 season, the Yazoo County softball team was able to overcome its youth and inexperience, along with wet weather and injuries, to grab a spot in the post season as a No. 3 seed.
However, the Lady Panthers couldn’t overcome a key injury to pitcher Catrina Hall, who was still able to pitch, but not as effectively, as they were sent home from the playoffs after just two games against Senatobia.

Before the 2012 season started, not many people penciled in Yazoo County into the baseball playoffs after going 2-20 in 2011.
After six games, it seemed as if the Panthers were headed for another dismal season with a 1-5 start.
But then things began to change.
The Panthers reeled off seven wins in district play to grab a second-seed in the MHSAA playoffs.

By TAYLOR MITCHELL

The Indians of Yazoo City made a quick exit from the MHSAA 5A playoffs Saturday afternoon after dropping the second game of the best-of-three series against Oxford, 9-4, ending Yazoo City’s season.
Yazoo City (8-16) hosted Oxford Friday afternoon, but was unable to complete the three-run comeback in the final two innings to lose 5-2.
Oxford had jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first two innings of game one, but the Indians would hold Oxford scoreless through the next four innings, but scored just once themselves.
