Several area anglers competed in the recent Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League (BFL) event this past weekend at Lake Ferguson. The top Yazoo area co-angler was Rick Morgan of Benton, who weighed in a 5-bass limit at 14lbs. 6oz. which earned him an 8th place finish & a $282 payday. Other Yazoo area co-anglers were Dewey Hood (5 bass, 5lbs. 12oz., 86th place), and Matt Smith (5 bass, 1lb. 10oz., 19th place, $86 in winnings).
In the boater division, Morgan weighed in a 5-bass limit that tipped the scales at 13lbs. 7oz., which was good enough for 27th place. The top boater was Jonathan Sultan of Grenada, with a 5 bass limit that weighed 20lbs. 11oz. and a $3,766 payday. Brandon Bolton won Big Bass in the Boater division with a 6lb. 13oz. largemouth worth $500.
The top co-angler was Norman Bolotte of Kenner, LA, with a 5-bass limit that weighed 18lbs. 9oz., worth a $1,883 check. The co-angler Big Bass was weighed in by Eddie Gibson of Greenville, with a 5lb. 14oz. bass & winnings of $250.
A total of 111 boats competed in the event. In the co-angler total yearly points, Morgan is in 1st place with 742 points and total winnings of $802. Matt Smith is in 40th, with 531 points and $86 in winnings. Hood in 52nd place, with 479 points. Our Yazoo anglers are in good position to make regionals, which will be held Oct. 18-20 on the Red River in Natchitoches LA.
