Yazoo County head softball coach Grant Andrews will be hosting a fast pitch softball camp June 11 and 12  at the Wardell Leach Recreational Complex.
The goal for the camp is “to improve each player’s performance as an overall player, along with increasing self-confidence.”
Varying sessions of the camp will help participants improve hitting, fielding, base running, team play and more.
The registration fee is $50 and only cash will be accepted. In case of inclement weather, the registration fees will be refunded if the dates cannot be rescheduled.

Campbell and Wright to play in 5A All-State Game

By TAYLOR HAWKINS
Sports Editor

The Yazoo City High dynamic duo of Sam Campbell and Darrius Wright was selected to the 5A All State team. Campbell was selected as the first team catcher while Wright was named a second team pitcher.
As a senior, Campbell hit .364 with one triple, five doubles, two home runs, and 23 RBIs. He was walked 21 times and was hit by eight pitches. He had an incredible .543 on base percentage.
Though Campbell has racked up awards during his high school baseball career, the All-State award is very significant.
“It makes me feel like I’m one of the best players in the state,” Campbell said. “It’s a real big honor.”
The big catcher has a big decision to make soon regarding his collegiate career.
