Benton Academy seniors Jason Berry and Jacob Davis completed their storied high school baseball careers with invitations to play in the 2013 MAIS All Star Game.
Also selected to the MAIS All Star game was first-year Benton head coach Keith Fagan.
As a batter, Berry hit .346 on the year with 24 RBIs and 18 runs scored. According to his coach, however, that may not have been his strongest quality.
“Jason had a good year on the mound. He went 5-3 and had some key wins for us,” Fagan said. “He has the ability to dominate hitters when he's dialed in.”
Berry believes that his selection was a culmination of all the hard work and effort he has put in over the years.
“It’s a big honor to be selected for an event like this,” said Berry. “It means a lot to me that all of the coaches selected me for it. It should be a lot of fun.”
Berry has signed scholarship papers to play at Mississippi Delta Community College.
Third baseman Davis had similar production with a whopping .375 average with 27 RBIs and 12 runs scored.
