Lady Indians fall in first round of state

Heading into the fourth quarter, Yazoo City had a three point lead. But at the final buzzer, it was Callaway who moved on to the second round of the 5A North State tournament after downing the Lady Indians 34-31 Monday night.
The Lady Indians (19-8-1) had their five game win streak snapped and their home record fall to 9-4. Callaway topped the season series at 2-1.
Head coach Archie Carlyle was quick to give credit where it’s due to their opponents but it was their own mistakes that cost them the game.
“The girls played real hard,” he said. “But down the stretch we made some costly turnovers that really hurt us.”
