Perhaps nothing defines the spirit of the people of Yazoo more than perseverance.
From the Great Fire of 1904 and the Great Flood of 1927 to the tornadoes of 2010, the people of Yazoo have always demonstrated strength and determination in the face of tremendous adversity.
When bad things happen in Yazoo, you will always find neighbors helping each other get back on their feet. The 2010 Spirit of Yazoo Award winner is a perfect example of those characteristics which make so many proud to call Yazoo home.
