At 81, Willie McCoy has no intention of slowing down.
McCoy continues to be an active member of the Yazoo community with his volunteer efforts in his church, civil defense and other projects.
Although he retired in the 1990s, McCoy remains determined to give back to the community, receiving personal satisfaction in return.
“If you see a need, just act on it,” McCoy said. “Don’t wait until you are called, just be active.”
McCoy and his wife Jevonne  arrived in Yazoo City in the 1970s. It was a long way from home for the Natchez native, but he was ready to settle in and make a difference.
