Over 100 Woolfolk Middle School seventh graders graduated from the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program last week.
Maj. Tilmon Clifton, with the Yazoo City Police Department, has been working with the students through a series of classroom lessons. Parents, educators and other community leaders celebrated Friday morning as the students were presented their certificates.
The D.A.R.E. program gives kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs and violence. The nation-wide program was founded in 1983 in Los Angeles.
The program has been   implemented in 75 percent of the country’s school districts and in more than 43 countries around the world. Woolfolk Middle School has been a part of the program for the past few years, and it has proven to be successful among its students.
