CLEOTHA CARTER

Cleotha “Punkin” Carter, 84, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010.
Funeral services were Friday at Big Bethel Baptist Church in Vaughan with Rev. Jim Dixon Sr. officiating. Burial followed at Exxum Cemetery in Vaughan under the direction of Century Funeral Home.
Mr. Carter was born on April 4, 1926 to the late Fount Carter  and Ida White. He confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Big Bethel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Lee Bell Carter; daughter; both parents; and six brothers.
Survivors include his two daughters, Jacqueline Carter Jordan of Jackson and Doris Carter of Chicago; two sons, Charles Carter (Diana) of Jackson and Oscar Bell of Vaughan; three sister-in-laws; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a host of special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Serving as pallbearers were Billy Barton, Cleveland Smith, Jacques Jordan, Johnny Barton, Clifford McCullough and John Minor Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Oscar Bell, James Robert Jr. and Charles Carter.

DOROTHY EVERETT

Dorothy Mae Everett, 67, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at King’s Daughters Hospital in Yazoo City.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Bryant officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Everett was born on July 1, 1943 in Humphreys County to James. D. Foster and Aileen Collier. She was an LPN at Oasis Health and Rehabilitation and was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Adams Everett of Yazoo City.
Survivors include her three sons, James Lamar Everett, Gardy Daniel Everett and Robert Adams Everett, all of Yazoo City; brother, Sonny Foster of Midnight; two sisters, Janie Little of Florence and Evelyn Vaughan of Jackson; and two grandchildren, James Whitaker Everett and Kaylee Renee Everett.

ROSIE BATTEE-HOWARD

Rosie Lee Battee-Howard, 66, died on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
Funeral services were Saturday at Campbellsville M.B. Church in Holly Bluff with Rev. Andrew Brown officiating. Burial followed at Cypress Garden Cemetery in Yazoo City under the direction of Scott Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Howard was born on Jan. 10, 1944 to Frank and Betty Batte. She confessed to Christ at an early age at Campbellsville M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. Andrew Brown.
She was preceded in death by parents; children, Debra and Eddie Howard; and brother, Frank Battee Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara (Bruce) Collins of Yazoo City; son, Patrick Howard of Yazoo City; two brothers, Isaiah Battee of Los Angeles and Joe Battee of Holly Bluff; sister, Mary Wyatt of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Pastor Eric Collins Sr. of Tampa, RoTiesha (Kendell) Collins and Marlo Watkins of Yazoo City; six great grandchildren; two godchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Clyde DeClouet, Andre Ray, Johnnie Burns Jr., Johnathan Burns, Maurice Davis, Mario Watkins and Herbert Tate Sr.
Honorary pallbearers were Patrick Howard, William Howard Jr., Pastor Eric Collins, Bruce Collins, Earl Howard and Kendell Bentley.

CYNTHIA MARTIN

Cynthia Ann Martin, 69, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
Funeral services were Tuesday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Hutto officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Martin was born on Jan. 4, 1941 in Vicksburg to John Daniel Norwood and Alma Catherine Wright. She was a homemaker and a member of Short Creek Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Luke Thomas Norwood and John Norwood.
Survivors include her husband, William Taylor Martin of Yazoo City; son, William T. Martin Jr. of Pelahatchie; brother, Frank J. Norwood of Vicksburg; two sisters, Patrice Aileen Mullen of Vicksburg and Alma Catherine Jones of Memphis; and two grandchildren.

BILLY McCOY Sr.

Billy Frank McCoy Sr., 74, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010 at the State Veteran’s Home in Kosciusko.
Funeral services were Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Gowan Ellis officiating. Burial followed at Wesley Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. McCoy was born Sept. 18, 1936 in Yazoo County to Claude and Lina Lawrence McCoy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a truck driver and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Richard McCoy.
Survivors include his daughters, Vicky McCoy of Wilmington, Ohio and Stephanie Hearst of Yazoo City; three sons, Gary McCoy of Wilmington, Ohio, Billy Frank McCoy Jr. of Bentonia and Ray McCoy of Yazoo City; a stepson, Andy Burt of Bentonia; sister, Emma Pettway (Raymond) of Baton Rouge, La.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Kenneth Lamar, Grady Hearst, Shay Hearst, Jamie McCoy, Patrick Cody Hearst and James Michael Hearst.
Honorary pallbearers were Andy Burt, Richard McCoy, Lt. Col. Leon Coody and Claude Hudson.

CLINTON MOORE Sr.

Clinton Moore Sr., 80, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Funeral services were Saturday at the Shaffer & Collins Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Morey Cemetery in Benton.
Mr. Moore was born April 14, 1920 in Yazoo County. He was a farmer and a member of New Hope M.B. Church.
Survivors include his sons, Clinton Moore Jr. of Yazoo City, Issac Moore, Willie Moore and Albert Moore, all of Flora, and Nathaniel Moore and Charles Moore of Jackson; daughters, Essie Moore, Mable Moore, Patricia Moore and Eileen Moore, all of Jackson, and Erlie M. Nelson, Cawanda Cowans and Margie Cowans, all of Yazoo City; six brothers; nine sisters; 25 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

BOBBY WILLIAMS Jr.

Bobby Joel Williams Jr., 53, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010 at Madison County Medical Center in Canton.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Dickerson officiating. Burial followed at Fletchers Chapel Cemetery in Yazoo County under the direction of  Strickin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Williams was born on July 18, 1957 in Yazoo County to Bobby Joel Williams Sr. and Faye L. Worthy Williams. He was a truck driver and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Joel Williams Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Wendy Williams of Yazoo City; two daughters, Brittany Leigh Williams and Destiny Williams, both of Yazoo City; two sons, Bobby Joel Williams III and Brian Baker, both of Yazoo City; three granddaughters, Madison Lee Gardner, Tommy Lynn Gardner and Miley Ray Bradshaw, all of Yazoo City; mother, Fay L. “Sally” Williams of Yazoo City; and sister, Elizabeth Burdine of Yazoo City.  
Pallbearers were Durand Burdine, Brandon Yarbrough, Roger Williams, Stephen Burdine, Bennie Kay Warrington and Eric Gerrard.
Honorary pallbearers were Ty Durden, Kenny Payne, Daniel Gardner, David Williams, Greg Williams and Sam Gerrard.

WILLIE PARKER Sr.

Willie Charles “Chief” Parker Sr., 68, died on Monday, Dec. 6, 2010.
Funeral services were Saturday at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Yazoo City with Rev. Steve Dennis officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City under the direction of Century Funeral Home.
Mr. Parker was born on March 18, 1942 to the late Ben and Zella L. Hawkins Parker. He retired from the Mississippi Chemical Corporation, where he worked for 37 years. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilynn Parker and one grandchild.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Lou Parker; children, Francine (Chris) Rucker and  Betty P. Scott of Yazoo City,  Loria (Marty) Green of Jackson, Willie Parker Jr. of St. Mary’s, Ga., Norman L. Parker of Anguana, Guam, Septimus (Lawanda) Parker of Cordova, Tenn. and Kevin E. Parker of Lawton, Okla; 28 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two brothers, Bonnie (Rosie) Fields of Yazoo City and L.C. (Barbara) Fields of Detroit; and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers were the deacons of St. Peter and Mt. Vernon. Honorary pallbearers were Quincy Parker, Terrence T. Parker, Darrell Scott Jr. and Denzel Scott.


FELIX ROBINSON

Felix Edward Robinson, 82, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 at Oasis Health and Rehabilitation in Yazoo City.
Graveside services were held Monday at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City with Father Lincoln Dall officiating under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Robinson was born on March 20, 1928 in Newton County to Elijah Lloyd Robinson and Arelia Harwell. He was a retired teacher and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Robinson of Yazoo City; two daughters, Shi’ree and Jeff Donaldson of Senatobia and Holly and Chris Hogenberg of Big Harber, Wash.
