BILLY JOHNSON
Billy Johnson, 81, of Bentoniadied Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010 at home.
Funeral services were Thursday at Bentonia Baptist Church with Rev. Lynn Nations and Rev. Bill Chathem officiating. Burial followed at the Bentonia Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnson was born April 21, 1929 in Covington County to Daniel and Wessie Mosely Johnson. He was a U.S. Marines veteran of World War II, a forman for the City of Vicksburng Gas Company and a member of Bentonia Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Woods and a nephew Jimmy Seals.
Survivors include his wife Betty R. Sanders Johnson of Bentonia; daughter, Belinda Hankins of Sarah; four stepsons, Richard Sanders and Allen Sanders, both of Bentonia, Bobby Sanders of Madison and Ricky Marshall of Pascagoula; a sister, Leona Jones of Brandon; and a brother, Dan Johnson of Crystal Springs.
Serving as pallbearers were Justin Hancock, Garrett Hancock, B.J. Sanders, Sterlin Hancock, Lauren Sanders and Josh Graves.

RUTH MELTON

Ruth Melton, 95, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010 in Jackson.
Funeral services were Friday at Center Ridge Baptist Church. Burial followed at Center Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Riemann Family Funeral Home of Gulfport.
Mrs. Melton was a lifelong member of Center Ridge Baptist Church and former owner of Melton Grocery. Known for her delicious caramel cake, she enjoyed baking for family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Melton; parents, Sebron and Bertha Files; and her brothers and sisters, Ed Files, Ralph Files, Rock Files, Marcus Files, Lavada Davis, and Hilda Blankenship.
Survivors include her sister, Frances Riemann of Gulfport; her brother in law, Bill Davis, of Columbus; numerous nieces and nephews; and her loving caretakers, Andy and Sheila Bridges and their children, Will Bridges (Kristin), Tiffany Bridges, and Mallory Bridges, all of Yazoo City.
