A former Manchester Academy teacher and administrator is facing six felony charges after allegedly getting caught spying on teenage males as they showered.
Richard Darden is facing three counts of voyeurism and three counts of exploitation of children. Conviction of exploitation charges can carry up to 40 years each, voyeurism can carry up to five years for each count.
Darden has not yet been arrested because authorities are not sure where he is. Sheriff Thomas Vaughan said that by the time his office had interviewed witnesses, Darden had checked himself into an unnamed rehabilitation facility.
Vaughan said Darden’s attorney, Cynthia Stewart, has promised to deliver Darden, but time is running out.
“Our patience is starting to wear thin,” Vaughan said. “If something doesn’t happen in a week or two, we will make up his mind for him. We hope for things to be resolved the easy way, but we can go to plan B.”
