Zeigler and Peaster named All-Stars
A pair of Yazoo County football players will be donning the helmet and pads just one more time.
Benton Academy senior lineman John Philip Zeigler and Manchester Academy senior quarterback Matt Peaster will take the field Friday at Mississippi College in Clinton.
The seniors, along with Raiders head coach Wayman Grantham, will represent the MAIS North All-Stars against the South All-Stars.
“I think it’s going to be fun,” Grantham said, who makes his first appearance on the sidelines. “It’s definitely an honor to be chosen by your fellow coaches.”
Zeigler anchored the line for the 5-6 Raiders who finished second in the district behind Tri-County while Peaster once again put up impressive numbers to help the Mavericks (3-8) reach the playoffs after winning three in a row despite their 0-6 start.
Players are voted by the coaches, and only seniors are voted onto the team. The 42 member squad is made up of players from all three MAIS classes.
Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at Robinson-Hale Stadium.
