ANDREW JEFFERSON

Andrew “Cadillac” Jefferson,  81, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 at Oak Grove Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were Saturday at Harris Funeral Home in Lake Providence, La. with Rev. Kenneth E. Furdge officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Providence, La.
Mr. Jefferson was born April 29, 1929 in Arkansas to the late Louis and Lily Jefferson. He worked many years as a heavy machine operator and truck driver for Eutaw Construction throughout various Southern states. During his employment with the company he helped build the four lane U.S. Highway 49 that connects Yazoo City to Jackson and other surrounding areas. He also played a vital part in building two of the malls in Jackson.
Survivors include five children, Willie Ray Williams, Donnie Ray Jefferson (Faye), Billie Holiday Jefferson Furdge (Kenneth), Kenneth Wade Jefferson and Elisha Jefferson Burns (Chris); 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Robert Bell Jr., Christian Burns, Anthony Clay, Jimmy Closure, Dairan Williams and Willie Wright.
Honorary pallbearers were Willie Williams, Donnie Jefferson, Kenneth Jefferson, Michael Purnell, Preston Bell Jr. and John Hatten III.

T.G. SADLER

T. G. "Tom" Sadler, 88, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2010 at his home near Bentonia.
Funeral services were Friday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Sadler was born in Yazoo County on Oct. 7, 1922, to Thomas Green Sadler and Mattie Shackleford Sadler. He served in the United States Air Force from 1942 to 1946.  Upon completion of service he joined the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol retiring after 30 years of service.  He later served as Yazoo County Sheriff for 10 years. He was an active member and deacon of Ogden Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Helen Hunsucker Sadler; one daughter, Loraine Sadler Broocks (Jim) of Brandon; two sons, Tommy  (Kim) Sadler of Crystal Springs and Felix  (Billie Gail) Sadler of Bentonia; a sister, Hilda Wells of Bentonia; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey (Ashley) Broocks, Jonathan (Tracy) Broocks, Spencer Broocks, Josh (Crissy) Sadler, Katie (Tommy) Norman, Alyson (Chris) White, Anna Grace Sadler and David Franklin; and ten great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Thomas Irwin, J.D. Sadler, Wade Woods, Jimmy Whitaker, Mims Herrington, Chris White, Ted Wells and David Springer.
Honarary pallbearers will be Wolf Lake Hudson, Kelly Collins, Travis Rowland, John Richardson, Ralph Fears, W. C. Stricklin, Luther Davis and Lamar Majors.
The family would like to express deep gratitude and sincere thanks to his dedicated and loving care giver Laurine Carter and to Mississippi Home Care for their loving care of our precious father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

LOUVENIA WALKER

Louvenia “Pie” Green Colbert Walker, 86, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2010.
Funeral services were Nov. 20 at Bethlehem M.B. Church in Thornton with Rev. Arthur Henderson officiating.
Survivors include her children, Devie (Atlene), Angela (Michael), Shawn (Tausha), Angie Mae, D’Andre, Ashley; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were James Cross, Calvin Diew, Marcus Jackson, Claude Collum, Jermaine Gainwell and Robert Montson.
Honorary pallbearers were Devie R. Freeman I, D’Andre R. Freeman, David T. Starling, Sean E. Smith, Devie R. Freeman II and Glenn Johnson.

BETTYE WHITAKER

Bettye W. Whitaker, 80, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2010 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
Funeral services were Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Poole officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Whitaker was born August 28, 1930 in Yazoo County to Charles J. White Sr. and Gladys Hamberlin White. She was a homemaker, and a graduate of Hinds Community College. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Adult Fellowship Sunday School Class, a member of the United Methodist Women and served on numerous committees throughout her lifetime. She was also a member of the Yazoo City Junior Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Whitaker Jr.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jackson White; brother, Charles White Jr.; and a grandson, James Hastings Kendall.
Survivors include her children, Christy Vandevere (Albert) of Yazoo City, Jimmy Whitaker (Jenny) of Satartia, Libby Kendall (Ted) of Bolton; and her grandchildren, Bert and Jennie Vandevere, Chris and Chrissie Vandevere, Jay Whitaker, Anna Kendall and Whit Kendall.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to  her compassionate and dedicated caregivers, as well as Dr. Jimmy Jones, Dr. Harper Stone and Dr. Marion Sigrest.
Serving as pallbearers were Lawrence Long, Bill Simmons, Archie Edgar, Felix Sadler, Max Sanders and Owen Richards.
