JEAN BAUGH

Jean Greer Baugh, 80, daughter of the late Chancey O. and the late Mollie Clark Greer of Yazoo City died November 8, 2010. She was the wife of Ivan Wesley Baugh and mother of Grace Lenelle Baugh-Bennett (Lawrence Bernard Palmer-Ball Bennett) and David Wayne Baugh (Kelly Schroerlucke), and two grandsons, Christopher Edward Lopez and Caleb Wayne Schroerlucke Baugh. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Her siblings preceded her in death: the late Lanelle Greer Trussell (Joe), the late Clark Greer (Harriet), the late Alice Greer Morgan (Howell), and the late Chancey O. Greer, Jr (Rosie).
She taught in Jefferson County Public Schools, retiring from St. Matthews Elementary. She pioneered the use of technology in the elementary classroom, serving on her schools' cadre of teachers who provided site-based leadership. She was active in The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, serving Xi chapter as Second and First vice president as well as President, the Alpha Gamma State (Kentucky) as State Second and First vice president, as well as President and later as State Treasurer. She participated in the 1988 Leadership Management Seminar sponsored by The International Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, and served on the International Educator's Book Award and the International Insurance Committees. She worked part-time for 4 years at Bellarmine University's School of Education. She was a member of the John Marshall Chapter of DAR and a Kentucky Colonel.
A private graveside service is planned with a public memorial service on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Broadway Baptist Church, 4000 Brownsboro Road, Louisville, KY. Memorial gifts are suggested in lieu of flowers to the Xi Chapter for Grant-in-Aid Fund, c/o Mrs. Barbara Jacobs, 3713 Tuesday Way, Louisville, KY 40219. Pearson-Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

PATRICIA BENNETT

Patricia Bennett died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010 at King’s Daughters Hospital surrounded by friends and family.
Funeral services were Saturday at Trinity Pentecostal Church of God in Yazoo City.
Mrs. Bennett was born Aug. 30, 1949 to Lester and Mable Gould. She was an avid gardener and her cremains will be buried at her home in her flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her father Lester Gould; a sister, Bertha; and a brother, Carlton.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Bennett; three sons, Henry, Joey and Richard;  daughter, Katrina Fennell; mother, Mable Vancleave; grandmother, Mertis Harrison; 15 grandchildren; nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the youth department of the church c/o Richard Bennett, 454 Honeycutt Road, Yazoo City, MS 39194.

ESTHER MARTIN

Esther Pierce “Nana” Martin, 77, of Meadville died Nov. 4, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospice.
Funeral services were Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Marvin Howell officiating.
Mrs. Martin was a native of Benton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Wayne Martin Sr.; a daughter, Hope Toney (Danny); a son, Robert Wayne Martin Jr. (Renee); sister, Merrain Gregory; brother, Charles Pierce; and a host of other relatives and friends.
