Myra Bean/The PanolianBATESVILLE- North Delta School scored 21 points in the in the opening quarter en route to a 34-0 victory over Manchester Academy Friday night in the first round of the MAIS Class AA playoffs.

The Mavericks (3-8) closed out the season winning three of their last five games. Of those eight losses on the season, six of those were at the hands of teams that made the playoffs.

“They were pretty good,” head coach Bennie McLendon said. “I was just disappointed that we gave them three touchdowns in first seven minutes of the ball game. After that, we played well the rest of the ball game.”
