As the April 24 tornado was closing in on Rogers Road, Lee Woods noticed that his neighbors seemed unaware of the danger.
The children next door were tossing makeshift kites into the wind and watching the force snatch them into the air, not realizing that the entire neighborhood was about to be demolished.
As Woods helped get them to safety the tornado slammed him into the front porch, smashing his shoulder.
