Sticking exclusively to the running game, Manchester Academy posted their biggest offensive performance of the season in a 35-14 win over Hillcrest Academy Friday.

The Mavericks have almost done a complete turnaround from their 0-6 start to 2010, winning their second straight game.

“The boys did what they had to do to get the win,” head coach Benny McLendon said. “In the first half we weren’t very focused because we had a bunch of penalties, but they got their minds straight and they went ahead and played a pretty big game.”

Once Manchester ironed out the wrinkles they proceeded to pound out a pair of touchdowns in the first half for a slim 14-6.

The offense turned up the heat in the second half scoring three more touchdowns to earn the win in front of the home crowd.
