With five minutes left in the game it looked like Yazoo County’s homecoming celebration would include a victory party.

Instead it was a heartbreaking loss as Humphreys County staged a late rally for a 24-22 victory.

The Panthers took charge early and were holding off a determined Humphreys County until the final minutes of the game.

With less than five minutes to go Yazoo County’s defense delivered a crucial stop, and the Cowboys responded with an excellent punt that pinned the Panthers back on theirown three yard line.

It was a perfectly executed special teams play, but time was running out, and it seemed the Panthers had a good chance of keeping the ball on the ground and maintaining the 14-12 lead.
