Indians fall to Dogs

Yazoo City had it all going for them Friday night.

Not only was a new homecoming queen getting crowned at halftime, but the Indians were leading 9-0 in a crucial district game against Lanier.

The lead quickly faded in the second half as three turnovers lead to touchdowns and gave the Bulldogs their first Region 5A victory, 21-16. The loss keeps the Indians (2-6, 0-4) winless in four straight games, all in district play.

“When you give them 21 points, you’re supposed to lose,” head coach Tony Woolfolk said. “That’s just how it is. It was a rough lesson for homecoming but they got to learn from their mistakes.”
