According to Mark Simpson, director of Marathon Makeover, the race is the culmination of the Marathon Makeover 40-week Wellness Program that turns couch potatoes into marathoners.
Participants took part in a ten week program, outlining the ins and out of how to run a marathon.
Once teams were established, the athletes trained for another ten weeks in their local areas.
