Raiders had their three game winning streak snapped in a 40-11 loss to Central Hinds Friday night.
The Raiders (3-4, 1-0) struggled offensively on their opening drive and was forced to punt, giving the Cougars the ball around midfield. A few plays later, Hunter Farrior gave the visitors the 7-0 lead after a 20 yard scamper.
Benton responded on their next drive, running the ball effectively and using the clock to their advantage. Shane Cargil made it a one possession game with a 32 yard field goal.
Head coach Wayman Grantham knew his team was going to have a hard time running the football, and instead would have to rely on their passing game.
“We used that opportunity to work on our passing game, I was pleased with a lot of things that we did,” he said. “Even though we didn’t score many points, we completed a lot of balls and we ran good routes.”
