Manchester Academy finished 2-2 last week in the spring break invitational, but their record was not an indication of what lies ahead for the Mavericks when district play starts this week.

Manchester easily dismantled the host school Hillcrest Academy in the opening contest winning 12-5. The Mavericks plated six runs in the fourth inning to extend their lead and get the victory.

Ben Fouche' was solid on the mound racking up six strikeouts in the win.
Josh Ryan finished a team-best 3-for-4 at the plate including a double. Aaron Woodard and Taylor Parks each finished with a pair of hits on the day.
In game two, the Mavericks struggled offensively but were held scoreless until the seventh inning in a 6-4 loss to Indianola. Parks finished with three hits to lead the team.
Manchester rebounded at the plate against Carroll en route to a 14-6 win in game three. The Mavericks needed just five innings capped by a seven run effort in the third.
Alex Crawford finished with a pair of hits, both doubles while teammates Blake Bowman, Powell McCalleb and Fouche' chipped in with extra base hits.
Timothy Newman earned the win, striking out three batters.
In the final match up with Brookhaven, the Mavericks once again struggled at the plate falling 8-4 and were held scoreless until the third inning.
Woodard was 1-for-4 at the plate with a triple while Crawford finished 2-for-3 with a pair of triples.
Despite going home earlier than expected, the Mavericks did have some honors as Bowman and Parks were named to the All-Tournament team.
A roundup of Manchester's midweek games will be in this Saturday's edition .
