Happiness depends on what you think

By GARY ANDREWS
Editor and Publisher

Meeting people on a daily basis will often determine on how your day is going to be.
If you are meeting people that are distant and withdrawn from you and their surroundings, chances are that you may yourself adopt that attitude. Should you see someone boisterous and loud, then you may adapt your disposition to that same type of voice control and not even realize where it came from.
All of us are creatures of habit. Many of us tend to follow instead of lead and sometimes we may stand still and get knocked over by the movers and shakers.
One of life’s greatest compliments is a happy person. Chances are that when you see someone that is happy and all about being alive and vibrant, this also can put you in a good mood and then you can spread this type attitude to someone else.
Remember what Dale Carnegie said, “Remember, happiness doesn’t depend on who you are or what you have; it depends solely upon what you think.”
Throughout the Bible happiness is talked about. Proverbs 29:18 states, “Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”
Christians should be happy all the time knowing that their final destination is at home with Jesus. As we walk our daily routines we need to extend to others our happy attitudes and when we are questioned about them, tell them the good news of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
Don’t let the world control your outlook or you demeanor on life. You set the tone for everyone else to desire.
Prayer: Thank you Lord Jesus for giving me life on earth. Help me to distribute the good news about you and that you are the one and true God. Let me help others understand that true happiness comes from you and you alone. Amen.

Letters to the editor

Dear Editor:
In the 6 April 2013 edition of The Yazoo Herald you published a letter from Cynthia Fuller, "Thanks to (Van) Foster for helping get bridge replaced."
After reading this lettter, I had the impression that the bridge was completed and traffic was moving along normally.
Wrong!  Last Sunday I was on my way to homecoming at Providence Baptist Church.  I turned north onto old 49 and saw the signs that the bridge was out.  I assumed that they hadn't gotten around to removing the signs.  I expected to cross Thompson Creek on the new bridge.  When I approached the creek the road was barricaded and construction equipment was down in the creek.
Perhaps The Herald can keep us updated as to the progress being made on the new bridge.
