Former police chief’s felony conviction expunged

By VERNON SIKES
For the Herald

In response to a request Thursday morning to see the Yazoo County Circuit Court's criminal file of former Yazoo City Police Chief Ceasar Felton, Yazoo County Circuit Clerk Susie Bradshaw said the file has been expunged.
When an order is given for a criminal record to be expunged, the record is erased to the point where the court sees the offense as having never happened.
According to circuit court records, which were researched prior to Thursday's expunging, Yazoo County Circuit Judge Jannie Lewis wrote last week that “this court vacates (Felton's) conviction of obtaining a thing of value by false pretense in count one and embezzlement in count two ...” Lewis added that the conviction was dismissed with prejudice, which means the cases may not be brought back up.
