A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to the recovery of a stolen historical marker.
The marker commemorating the capture of the Federal tinclad USS Petrel was reported missing Wednesday morning. The marker, which was erected in 2008, was located at Highway 149 and Schaffer Road.
Tonja Smith, director of the Yazoo Convention and Visitors Bureau, said she learned the marker was missing when a visitor called seeking help locating it.
The marker cost around $1,600 and was purchased through donations.
