Season over for Lady Mavs softball
Manchester Academy closed out the 2010 softball season with a 6-5 loss to Tri-County on Tuesday, but the season itself wasn’t a disappointment by any means.
First year head coach Russell Cruise played the most of the second half of the season with seventh and eighth graders following injuries to several key players. Cruise says the girls remained competitive throughout the year.
“I was pleased with the way they responded after some of the losses we had, there were no excuses,” he said. “They were competitive all the way through.”
Tri-County scored three runs in the third inning to take the lead for the first time after Manchester scored a pair of runs to start the game. With the game deadlocked at 5-5 heading into the bottom of the sixth, Tri-County scored the winning run off back-to-back hits.
