ROBERT JENNINGS

Robert Dale Jennings, 53, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2010 at home.
Funeral services are today at 2 p.m. at Cypress Gardens. Visitation is today from 1-2 p.m. at Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Jennings was born Jan. 3. 1957 in Yazoo County to Elvis and Josephine Collier Jennings.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Jennings of Yazoo City; and two brothers, Elvis Jennings of Lexington and Mike Jennings of Yazoo City.

MARTY RHODES

Marty Lee Rhodes, 42, died Friday July 23, 2010.
Funeral services were July 31 at the L.T. Miller Community Center with Rev. Randy Littleton officiating. Burial followed at Truelight Cemetery under the direction of Century Funeral Home.
Mr. Rhodes was born June 8, 1968 to Arthur and Sylvester Lee Rhodes. After graduating from Yazoo City High School in 1987, he joined the U.S. Army and received and honorable discharge in 1991. He was employed with Simmons until his health failed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Doris Rhodes-Banks.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Gaston-Rhodes of Yazoo City; a son, Marty Lee Rhodes Jr. of Holly Bluff; three daughters, Coneisha Rhodes, Sherita Little and Martavia Rhodes; a brother, Arthur Rhodes Jr.; two sisters, Barbara Rhodes-Harris of Chicago and Katherine Rhodes of Yazoo City; a grandson, DaMarrion Washington of Yazoo City; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Robert Green, John L. Jones, Keith Ketchum, Greg Johnson, Septimus Parker, Tommy Johnson, Billy Johnson, Freddie Johnson, Leon Neal and Danny Little.
Honorary pallbearers were Arthur Rhodes Jr., Kevin Gaston, Tyrone Redmond, Devie Freeman, Michael Martin, David Taylor, Tony Hudson and Derek Jackson.

 
Letters to the editor

Dear Editor:
In the 6 April 2013 edition of The Yazoo Herald you published a letter from Cynthia Fuller, "Thanks to (Van) Foster for helping get bridge replaced."
After reading this lettter, I had the impression that the bridge was completed and traffic was moving along normally.  
Wrong!  Last Sunday I was on my way to homecoming at Providence Baptist Church.  I turned north onto old 49 and saw the signs that the bridge was out.  I assumed that they hadn't gotten around to removing the signs.  I expected to cross Thompson Creek on the new bridge.  When I approached the creek the road was barricaded and construction equipment was down in the creek.
Perhaps The Herald can keep us updated as to the progress being made on the new bridge.
