Like many other municipalities in the state, city leaders are weighing in on prohibiting the sale of synthetic marijuana within the city.
The substance, marketed  as “Spice” or “K2” has been recently gaining attention as lawmakers debate on a statewide ban.
Chief Eric Snow appeared before city leaders during the Board of Mayor and Aldermen open meeting Monday afternoon to discuss the latest craze.
“We have two stores that have it,” Snow said. “Is there any way to ban this?”
Spice is a mixture of chemicals and herbs that mimics the effects of marijuana. In many states, it is legal to sell in businesses. Most packages are sold as incense and labeled “not for human consumption,” but it is regularly abused.
“You can legally sell it, but it is being used has a drug,” Snow said.
