Benton Academy overcame missed opportunities to stage a fourth quarter comeback, but University Christian scored twice in the final two minutes to hold off the Raiders in the season opener.

Joe White grabbed an interception on the opening drive to disrupt what was shaping up to be a strong push toward the endzone for the Flames. The Raiders were unable to capitalize, however, and were forced to punt the ball away.

University Christian would not be denied a second time as defensive penalties proved costly for the Raiders. A two-yard quarterback sneak gave the Flames a 7-0 edge with 3:45 to go in the first quarter. The Flames extended the lead to 14-0 with just 54 seconds left in the first.
