Day with JA and supply drive prove to be a success for local chapter
Special to The Herald
The Junior Auxiliary of Yazoo City made a great impact on the community this summer season with a successful school supply and uniform drive, as well as hosting a fun day with students.
The local chapter held its school supply and uniform drive for the second time this year. Several needy children in the community given new clothes and bags full of supplies thanks to the hard work of the ladies of JA.
Members set up stations at various locations throughout the community and collected a variety of school supplies and uniforms. A few members even collected additional supplies after continuing to see a need once the school year kicked off.
The Yazoo City chapter also hosted its second annual Day with JA.
Local kindergarten through fifth grade students participated in Day with JA at the Warren-Yazoo Mental Health Complex. Students spent a day with JA members and visited a variety of stations with information, including dental hygiene, story time, sports, board games and face painting.
About 50 students were served during the event and were even treated to a visit from the Yazoo City Fire Department with its fire truck.
