In one of the most brazen local crimes in recent memory, thieves hotwired an 18-wheeler from a local trucking company and used it to steal a tractor from Mississippi Ag last week.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, three days later a tractor was stolen from Mississippi Ag in broad daylight.
Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the thieves. Newsom trucking is offering an additional reward for information leading to the recovery of the company’s red 2004 Peterbilt Daycab.
“The truck was locked, and we had the keys,” said Michelle Newsom Stevens. “They actually unhooked the truck from the trailer it was attached to before driving away. No one knows for sure yet where the trailer came from that they used to steal the tractor from Mississippi Ag with.”
