Thompson opposes closing WIN Job Centers
By JAMIE PATTERSON
As the date draws near for the closure of the Yazoo City WIN Job Center, a U.S. Representative is trying to keep its doors open.
U.S. Rep. Bennie G. Thompson began his efforts earlier this month to reach out to federal leaders about the future of the local job center.
Thompson sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Labor in regard to the state’s decision to close 13 WIN Job Centers, which “an outstanding number are located in significant minority populated communities in the State of Mississippi.”
