Lewis earns DAR JOTC award

The Bronze Daughters of the American Revolution Medal was awarded to Cadet First Sergeant Maya Marie Lewis at the Yazoo County High School Awards Program.
This medal and accompanying NSDAR certificate is given to a senior in a secondary high school JROTC Program, Jr. College or U.S. Naval Seal Cadet Unit.
The back of the medal reads, “For Patriotism and Academic Achievement.” It is worn according to JROTC Protocol.
Maya completed four years in the JROTC Program at Yazoo County High School. She served as First Sergeant in Alpha Company. Maya was on the softball team and a member of the Drama Club in high school.
She was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated with honors.
She is the daughter of Danita Clay and Mina Lewis III.
She will attend Holmes Junior College and later attend Mississippi State University. She plans to major in biology and pursue a career as a geneticist.
