As city leaders continue to seek input concerning the new junk car ordinance, tow companies were already picking up vehicles this week.
The issue of junked and abandoned cars in the city has been heavily discussed since the new administration arrived at city hall. But citizens began seeing action Wednesday morning as vehicles were being removed from various properties.
Danny Neely, code enforcement officer, said there are a total of about 21 property owners who were served with the proper notification to remove junked vehicles. He said there are about 60 vehicles that have been approved to be removed.
