Children make a splash with reading program

The B.S. Ricks Memorial Library recently finished its annual summer reading program. The B.S. Ricks Memorial Library recently finished its annual summer reading program. Special to The Herald

The B.S. Ricks Memorial  Library recently held its closing program for Summer Reading 2010.
The theme for this year’s program was "Make A Splash Read!".
The focus of this year’s program was to strengthen the students reading habits by reading to the grandparents.
The Yazoo County foster grandparents were stationed in the children’s room from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Each student was given a reading log to keep up with the books they read. They were also given coloring sheets and puzzles with the theme of water. They are currently being displayed in the childrens room. The students who completed the program received treat bags, bookmarks, stickers and candy. Each was given the choice of picking a toy prize. The students were given a book of their choosing to take home.
