Miss Smith, Crawford to wed Sept. 11 in Madison

Melanie Layne SmithMelanie Layne SmithMr. and Mrs. Leland Somers Smith III of Madison announce the engagement of their daughter, Melanie Layne Smith, to Mr. Wilkins Montgomery Crawford Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilkins Montgomery Crawford, Sr. of Holly Bluff.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leland Somers Smith, Jr. and late Rev. and Mrs. George Roy Lawrence, all of Jackson.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mrs. J.W. Crawford Jr. and the late Mr. Crawford of Holly Bluff and the late Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Burkhalter of Sumrall.
Miss Smith is a 2004 graduate of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Millsaps College in 2008 where she was a member of Chi Omega.  Miss Smith was presented by The Debutante Club of Mississippi in 2005.  She is a teacher at Steen’s Creek Elementary School.
