For the Herald

While no team from Yazoo City made it to the Mississippi Coliseum for the stateĀ  basketball championships this season, Yazoo City was well represented as two former athletes-turned-coaches led their respective teams to State Championships last week at the Big House.
Tangela Banks, head coach of the Forest Hill Lady Patriots, led her team to a gut-wrenching, four overtime 76-74 victory over Southaven in the Class 6A Finals, giving her a second straight gold ball.
In just his second season at the helm of the Velma Jackson Falcons, Anthony Carlyle coached his team to a come-from-behind 45-44 victory over Booneville in the Class 3A Finals for his first championship.
