They say the third time is the charm, but for Archie Carlyle and the Yazoo City Indians, it was the fourth.
In three previous meetings, the Yazoo City Indians saw their season come to an end at the hands of the New Hope Trojans in the North State playoffs. On Tuesday night, however, the Indians finally broke the losing streak, beating the Trojans 58-48 to advance to the second round against the Provine Rams.
“This win was a long time coming and goes way back,” said Carlyle. “A couple of times we had strong teams and we didn’t get it done. This time we finally broke through so I hope that means something. We were a little timid about going up there. It’s tough on the road, but the guys played hard and played good defense and that got us through.”
