The atmosphere for the District 3-5A championship game this past Friday between the Yazoo City Indians and the Canton Tigers was at an all-time high. With the district title on the line as well as the chance to host a first round North State game, the third meeting between the two rivals was guaranteed to be a barn-burner.
The game stayed close for a half, but the Tigers rallied in the third quarter to steal the game’s momentum en route to a 50-39 victory. With the win, Canton gets to stay at home Tuesday and will host the Oxford Chargers. The Indians (21-9) traveled to Columbus to face the New Hope Trojans.
