Yowell shares the benefits of trees

The Lintonia Garden Club met on Jan. 23 in the Public Service Commission boardroom.
Dr. Elousie Upchurch presided. Reports were given on the Christmas Garden Therapy project and the Ricks Library display. Upcoming Arbor Day activities were discussed.
Donna Yowell, Executive Director of the Mississippi Urban Forest Council, presented a program about the benefits of using trees in a community. She explained that the mission of the council is to foster and promote proper management of community forests by providing education, technical assistance and training to organizations or communities.
She also presented the club with a directory of environmental resources and available grants.
Robbie Montgomery, hostess for January, served a variety of delicious snacks after the meeting.
